Our mission at War Dogs Making It Home is to help veterans from the Vietnam War to the present who are struggling with combat related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI), and Military Sexual Trauma (MST). We provide them with a rescue dog that they help train in our two-year program of service dog training classes and ongoing group support.
TWO VULNERABLE POPULATIONS IN NEED
PTSD, TBI and PTSD by MST affects as many as 40% of those returning from combat. PTSD is a major contributing factor in drastic increased substance abuse, domestic violence, homelessness, and high unemployment rates and suicide among our nation’s heroes. 22 veterans take their own lives a day. 1 is too many….
